My name is Donna Lechliter and I am asking for your vote for Circuit Clerk in the Nov 2, 2010 election

Morgan County has been my home for thirty years, and I have been a member of St. Vincent de Paul Church for the same time. Currently, I am employed at War Memorial Hospital as a cook in the Nutritional Service Department where I have served my community for fourteen years. I attended one year of college at Allegheny Community College.

My husband John and I have been married for 36 years. John is a Vietnam Veteran with eight years of service in the Navy. Together we have five children, all of whom are Berkeley Springs graduates. My first son is in the construction industry, and my second son is a chef currently employed at Pro Foods. My only daughter is a graduate of the Penn State Dickinson School of Law in Carlisle, Pa. She now works for a law firm in Harrisburg, Pa. My two youngest sons currently attend West Virginia University and are enrolled in the ROTC program. They are also in the West Virginia Army National Guard and plan to make a career in the United States Army after college. I have raised my children to understand the importance of serving their country, community and family.

Morgan County residents deserve a full-time, fair and impartial Circuit Clerk. The Circuit Clerk carries a great deal of responsibility and must follow the official decrees set forth by the Supreme Court of Appeals. If I am elected, there will be no problems handling jury selection and management, maintaining court records and working directly with the Circuit Judges.

When you are selected as a juror in this county you deserve to be treated with respect. I can make that happen. When you are serving as a juror, I believe your time is more important than mine. Thus, when circumstances require a change in the jury schedule, every effort will be made to get you the right information as soon as possible. This is my promise to Morgan County citizens.

If elected, I will look for ways to save the county money. Raising and educating five children has provided me with the skills to make things work within a budget. There is no reason our government cannot effectively do the same thing. I will search for ways to save money and to successfully reduce the Circuit Clerk’s budget.

I have been a dependable employee of the hospital, missing very few days of work in the past fourteen years. I will bring the same hard work and commitment to this position. By arriving at the office at the start of every day, I will show the citizens of this county the importance and value of hard work. I will also hold all employees to the same standards as myself. We have good employees now, and I look forward to working together with them in the future.

Because the taxpayers pay the Circuit Clerk’s salary, communication with them is extremely important. If I have to leave the office on business, I will always be in touch. I will make sure that I am available to meet the taxpayers’ needs. If a citizen leaves a message, I will personally return his or her phone call. I believe the basic principles of business are met with enthusiasm and hard work. If elected, I will bring both of these qualities to the position- I will be a full-time Circuit Clerk.
